The first graduates by correspondence got their diplomas in 1972. Today we provide our students with a full-fledged continuous education system with up-to-date online services and an automated educational portal which allows our students to receive higher education in correspondence form without interruption from everyday life and professional activity, regardless of their location.

The entire scientific, methodological and educational potential of the university is integrated into the resources of the institute of correspondence education. Since 2004, elements of distance educational technologies and e-learning have been introduced into distance learning. Due to this, the number of part-time students increases annually. So, if in 2003 there were 1,900 students enrolled in the faculty, today more than 6500 students study at the institute of correspondence education.

Representatives of not only the Central Black Earth region, but also the North of the European part of the country, the Volga region, the Urals, Siberia, the Far East, the former union republics and the far abroad are receiving correspondence education at the university. Today, for the implementation of higher and additional professional education programs in the territory 35 regional resource information-methodical centers of our university are in operation, of which 10 are in the Belgorod region and more than 25 in the far regions of the Russian Federation (Perm, Stavropol, Krasnodar and the Kamchatka Territory, Novosibirsk, Chelyabinsk, Bryansk, Saratov, Ulyanovsk Region, the Republic of Crimea, etc.).

The correspondence form of training is convenient to various categories of people. Often it is chosen for getting the second higher education. Full-time students use the opportunity to receive a higher education in a different direction in parallel with full-time education.

The Admission Committee conducts a recruitment of applicants by correspondence, including the use of distance educational technologies in 21 areas of bachelor's degree and 5 specialties. Students of the correspondence form are trained both at the expense of the federal budget and in the form of full cost recovery.

During the exam sessions, students attend lectures; participate in practical and laboratory classes. Classes are conducted by highly qualified university teachers. Intermediate certification of correspondence students can also take place remotely, using the electronic information and educational environment of the university. At the same time, the correspondence form of training provides for a considerable amount of independent work: study of educational literature, execution of control, course works and projects, use of Internet services of the institute.
