Independence Day in Angola

On November 11, the ground floor of the main building BSTU named V.G. Shukhov was crowded and lively because of the exhibition devoted to the Independence Day of Angola. Currently more than 50 representatives from the African country are taking their courses at BSTU. And they have tried to present their homeland in the most colorful way they could. Attention was attracted to the show and rhythmic music and beautiful Angolan young people who passionately spoke about the exhibits and their distant country.
Conducting independence celebrations for foreign representatives, who are trained at BSTU has become a good tradition. The lecturers of the preparatory faculty and staff of the Centre for International Cooperation are actively involved in helping foreign students to organize such events. Independence Day celebrations of the Republic of Angola continued in the Students’ Art Centre. The celebration was attended not only by BSTU students, but their countrymen who are studying at Belgorod State University.

The concert was bright and memorable. At the beginning of the event the director of the International Center E.V. Kapustin, on behalf of the Rector congratulated everyone with the main national holiday, and wished the students success in studies. And then the representatives of Angola sang the anthem of their country.
the presenters familiarized the audience with Angola - a country of gold and diamonds, oil and iron ore, phosphates and copper. It is interesting to know, for example, that the country’s name "Angola" is derived from the word "Ngola" - a hereditary title of the rulers of the medieval state, located in the north of modern Angola. It turns out that the country's 18 provinces, inhabited by nations and tribes, speak various languages. A national language is Portuguese. Therefore, the people of this country speak at least two or three languages. And now, studying in Russian universities, they have to learn more languages, Russian first of all.

In Angola, a lot of interesting places that are visited by tourists. A special place in this list is a wonderful museum of Angola ethnographic exhibition. But the greatest wealth of this country is represented by talented people who know how to draw, sing and dance. Boys and girls demonstrated their talents. Their fiery and passionate dance, songs touched everyone. Later the presenters acquainted the audience with the history of music and choreographic trends.
Our university is conducting planned and purposeful work to create the best conditions for foreign students, their comfortable living and adapting to an unfamiliar socio-cultural environment. Such activities allow students from other countries who find themselves far from home, to feel care and attention of the academic staff, interest in their country and respect for the culture of their people.
