Interaction of the University with Rossotrudnichestvo: Middle East Forum, opening of a Russian language center in Syria
Delegation of BSTU named after V.G. Shukhovheld a meeting with Pavel Shevtsov, Deputy Head of the Federal Agency for the Commonwealth of Independent States, Compatriots Living Abroad and International Humanitarian Cooperation (Rossotrudnichestvo). The Technological University was represented by: Vice-Rector for International Affairs Ruslan Lesovik, General Director of the International Commonwealth Association Tatyana Balabanova and Deputy Director of the Center for International Education and Cooperation Yasser Allakham. At the meeting, issues related to the holding of competitions, architectural and artistic plein airs, forums of public diplomacy and cultural and educational exchange were discussed. Professor Ruslan Lesovik spoke about the events at the flagship university of the region, which are of great importance in organizing international cooperation.
“Today BSTU named after V.G. Shukhov is one of the leaders in the field of international activities of Russian universities, ”Ruslan Valerievich emphasized in his report. The participants determined the conditions for further interaction between Rossotrudnichestvo and BSTU named after VG Shukhov on the visit of the Russian delegation to the Syrian Arab Republic. The visit will be organized by the Russian Ministry of Science and Higher Education, Rossotrudnichestvo and the Russian Ministry of Defense. It is noted that in BSTU named after V.G. Shukhov created a roadmap for the opening of a center for the Russian language and culture in Latakia on the basis of the Al Munir school to prepare applicants for admission to a technological university for industrial, engineering and natural science specialties. It is planned to sign an agreement on mutual cooperation of BSTUnamed after V.G. Shukhov with the universities of Tishrin and Damascus.
During the meeting, the question was raised of the need to create vacancies for applicants from Syria planning to enter BSTU. V.G. Shukhov for construction specialties. The main goal of future graduates is the restoration of destroyed buildings and structures in their homeland. Particular attention was paid to the planned holding of the Middle East Forum of the Union of Arab Universities in Belgorod in July 2021. The rectors of 12 largest universities of the United Arab Emirates, which occupy high positions in world university rankings, will arrive at the forum to discuss the prospects for further cooperation between Arab and Russian universities. President of the Union of Arab Universities, Professor Amr Ezzat Salama accepted the invitation of the rector of BSTU named after V.G. Shukhov Sergey Glagolev to visit Belgorod and hold a meeting of the Union of Arab Universities on the basis of the main university of the region.
