The Representatives of the Sultanate of Oman visited the local government office (June 04, 2010 )

In the afternoon the delegation of the Ministry of higher education of the Sultanate of Oman was received by Yuri Kovrizhnikh, deputy head of Belgorod oblast government.

In the course of the meeting Yury Kovrizhnikh said: «I am pleased to meet you on the land of Belgorodia. We have already established the relationships with the Sultanate of Oman and I would like to express our deep our profound satisfaction with your intention to sign the cooperation agreement between the Ministry of higher education of the Sultanate of Oman and Belgorod Shukhov University». 

Yuri Kovrizhnikh gave an outline of special features in the development of Belgorodia. He emphasized the intensive development of local construction industry and its top position in terms of construction rates in the Russian Federation, which gives active growth to building materials industry. The major contribution has been made by Belgorod Shukhov University which is training specialists for the construction industry. The university also trains economists, environmental engineers, power engineers and computer programmers. The university has maintained a good teaching practice, also using English as a language of tuition.

In response, the head of the delegation, H.E, Dr. Abdullah M. Al Sarmi, undersecretary of the Ministry of Higher Education of the Sultanate of Oman extended his gratitude to the local government for  warm reception. According to H.E, Dr. Abdullah M. Al Sarmi «We have seen a beautiful city, providing the best opportunities for getting good-level higher education. It has been a short period since we received the delegation from Belgorod in Oman. Now we are on a visit to a neat and well-kept city».

Talking about his home country Dr. Abdullah M. Al Sarmi emphasized that our nations have a lot in common in terms of hospitality, trying to keep their place neat and preserving their traditions.

Summing up the meeting Yuri Kovrizhnikh wished fruitful cooperation and promised to provide overall support from the state of the local government.
